debris

i did not see the beauty of this day

old junk seeped in through the cracks surrounding my door

it grasped my heart and tackled me down

but joy surprised me

it kissed my pores and i found my breath

Aline Smithson photography

These wonderful photos were taken by Aline Smithson. They are absurd and I love them.

She had her 85 year old mother pose for these portraits, dressing her in various finds from garage sales.

The color is gorgeous. The vibrant green is grounded by the deep black backdrop and creates an interesting composition. Even though the contrast is intense, the subject does not get lost. She is striking in all her beauty, individuality, and humor. Unfortunately, the neon shade that coats the wall and floor does not translate well on the images i took from her website.

I want a real one to stick on my wall and look at forever.
